Big News! ~No not THAT big news :(

hi everyone! Well, we have some big news...not the big news that so many of my friends have been emailing me about, but big news for us. We are coming home in 83 days!!! This is so exciting. We were supposed to be home in January but Brian's school is back and forth from closing and opening again, so we've decided to cut our stay shorter. Plus, Brian's brother Dennis and his Wife are having a baby at the end of October, so we'll get to be home to be with them which is very special to us. So, we will be flying home on October 31st! I can not wait!

Mom's visit here was great! It was so nice to see her. We went to the DMZ (Demiliterized Zone) which is the border between North and South Korea. It was way intense to be right there. To see into north Korea. I'll post some pictures and let ya'll know what the pictures are.

Other than that there's not much to say. We're really stressed out about Brian's school and what we will do if/when it closes. There is an amazing woman (the one we went to the mountains with a while back) who has offered to let us stay with her at her home with her family for the 2 months that we would be here and homeless (if brian loses his job, we lose our housing). So she has been a huge blessing. We are so thankful for her and her family. God has really blessed us with her.

So here are some pictures of the DMZ and other places. Hope you enjoy. Please leave a comment if you want...I'd love to hear from anyone who reads this!

This is a ROK (republic of Korea) soldier standing at ready. They have to stand with their arms like this all day! The soldiers on the other side of that concrete block are North Korean soldiers. That Concrete block is the border between N and S Korea. The South Korean soldiers face toward North Korea to prevent people from coming over. The North Korean soldiers face toward North Korea as well, but to prevent people from going over to South Korea. Top ten ways to know your government is functioning.

These are pictures of the North Korean Propoganda village. Nobody usually lives here, but people have started working at a factory there. They have the largest flagpole and flag in the world. They used to broadcast anti-american sentiment about 20 hours a day from big speakers. Now they don't. The one of the guard tower has North Korean soldiers watching the border all the time.

This is the Bridge of No Return. POW on each side were given the opportunity to choose to cross into South/North Korea or stay where they were, but once they were over the bridge they could never return to the other side.

The other is a sign of the border.

Here is us at the Observation Deck

Random pics of Brian being a dork, us eating, and the changing of the guard at Gyeong Bok Gong Palace
